Review:Immediately following the announcement of the iPhone 5c and 5s, Apple's Lightning to USB Cable (2m) ($29) was one of a handful of accessories to stealthily pop up in the company's online store. It's identical to the standard meter-long Lightning to USB Cable, and Lightning to USB Cable (0.5 m) in all but length, girth, and price. There are few surprises to be found here, but if a longer cable is something you need, it's worth knowing just what this one offers
Measured end to end, the cable is 6.5’ long, just as advertised. It uses the same white plastic housings around the Lightning and USB plugs as Apple’s other two cables, which means that it’ll be able to connect through any case, and will take up as little room as possible when plugged into a computer. The one physical aspect that we found to be different, aside from the length, is the gauge of the cable itself. It’s not huge by any means, but the small difference can be seen when it’s placed next to the shorter cables.
Coming at a $10 premium over Apple’s standard-length cable, the two-meter Lighting to USB Cable works just fine, but is more expensive than it has to be. Monoprice makes 6’ and 10’ cables that go for $13 to $14, and do the same job. Macally also sells a a six-footer, for $4 less than Apple. If the extra length is necessary, we’d pick one of those up first. For those who don’t mind spending the money, or have no other options, this one isn’t a bad choice though, making it worthy of our limited recommendation.
